Licensing, and what happens after you ask

Most of what is here can be licensed. This page says what the process looks like from your side so that asking is a small step rather than an open-ended one.

Four different conversations

Using something in your product, building on it, acquiring it outright and investing in it are four different asks with four different answers. The enquiry form asks which one you are starting, because the useful reply to each is different and a generic contact form produces a generic reply.

What happens to an enquiry

It reaches a person, with your identity attached. If a technical evaluation is the sensible next step, access to that entry's data room is granted to your account — scoped to the one entry, time-limited, logged, and revocable. That is real access control rather than an unguessable link.

What we will not do

We will not assert anything we have not been granted, we will not describe a provisional as a patent to make a deal look better, and we will not license something to be used against the people it was built for. A register that overstates itself is worth less than one that does not.

Can I license one of these?

That is what the register is for. Every entry carries a way to ask, and the enquiry goes to a person rather than a queue. Terms depend on what you want to do with it — using it in a product, building on it, or acquiring it outright are three different conversations.

Why do I need an account to enquire?

Because a licensing conversation starts with knowing who is asking. An enquiry attached to a real identity is worth more to both sides than an anonymous form submission, and it means the reply goes somewhere that reaches you.

What is in the data room?

The filings themselves, drawings and technical annexes — the material a serious evaluation needs and a casual reader does not. Access is granted per entry to a named account, it expires, it is logged, and it can be revoked. It is real access control rather than a link that is hard to guess.

Is anything here for sale outright?

Ask. Some things are licensable and not for sale, some are both, and the answer depends on the entry and on what you want to do. Nothing on this site takes a payment — it starts a conversation.
